Aims of the certificate course

Technical basics: You will acquire in-depth knowledge of the technical basics of various additive manufacturing processes.

Development of “additive thinking”: Through live online seminars and hands-on practical components, you will acquire the specific thinking and design principles of additive manufacturing, which differ significantly from existing design principles.

Evaluation of economic viability: You will learn to evaluate the economic viability of using additive manufacturing technologies to consider business cases and create the basis for new business models that can be transferred to your own company and situation.

Graduation:After completing the final exam, you will receive a certificate from the Technical University of Munich.

Day 3: Online (both groups)

  • Economic aspects II: Business case and business models
  • Additive manufacturing with metals
  • Introduction to additive manufacturing in the construction industry

Day 4: Online (specialization in industrial manufacturing)

  • Additive manufacturing with polymers
  • Computer-aided methods in additive manufacturing
  • Advanced manufacturing: monitoring and use of process data
  • The additive process chain in practice – examples from the aerospace industry

Day 5: Online (specialization in construction)

  • Additive manufacturing (with BETON): Functionality, process chain, material requirements, potential
  • Additively manufactured buildings in practice & focus element on individual processes (BETON): Particle bed process, SCA, SPI
  • Additive manufacturing in architecture: legal and logistical challenges
  • Short presentations on the current state of research: plastics, wood, metal (LPBF, WAAM)
